It is undeniable that writing an essay is very time consuming. Putting your thoughts into words is perhaps one of the most difficult things to figure out. It takes a lot of preparations to be able to figure out the right and exact words to use in expressing your thoughts, hence it is integral that as writers, we understand and realize the huge importance of prewriting strategies.
Last week’s discussions made me realize how maximizing prewriting strategies can save so much of our time. It provides us the opportunity to have better preparations in our writing activities. The prewriting strategies presented are crucial ways in helping student writers like me and especially those who are still beginners to develop the creativity within us. From freewriting, brainstorming, down to dialoging, all of the strategies are equally essential in improving students’ writing in terms of content and ideas, organization, and voice; and also helps increase self- motivation and creativity towards writing. Frankly speaking, it took me awhile to develop my writing abilities due to the fact that I am not a wide reader. With this, I had a hard time adapting the writing strategies of others and developing my vocabulary skills. Last week’s lesson made me realize that if only I listened to my teacher’s advice back then to utilize prewriting strategies, I would have been a better writer that I am today.
Prewriting strategies indeed benefit students’ writing on multiple levels. Yes, it is undeniably true that the journey to developing one’s ability in writing is a process that takes time to harness. There are a lot of things to learn especially familiarizing the grammar rules of the English language. However, with proper strategies, motivation and guidance towards becoming excellent in the field writing, it is never impossible to become at par with the prominent writers of today.
