Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is one of the very famous novels of J.K. Rowling. A lot of people has become a fan of Harry Potter because of its exciting adventures, concept and twists. No wonder, sequels were written and J.K. Rowling became one of the best-selling authors of all time. The characters in this novel have very unique personalities that one can easily tell their differences. In this article, we are going to determine the archetypes in the story and how it played a vital role in the creating characters that will surely make a mark in its readers.
This literally piece is actually considered a timeless classic because of how it portrayed the concept of rags to riches through the character of Harry Potter. He became an orphan at a very young age and was forced to live with his aunt and uncle. Growing up with nothing, Harry later on realized that his parents left him with an ominous omen. His situation led him to the world of adventure. He fought a troll to defend Hermoine and he was the only one who defeated Lord Voldemort. It is for this reason that he is the hero of the story. In this novel, a wise man is also presented in the person of Professor Dumbledore. He is the one that people go to for advice and guidance. He is a very kind man and guided Harry throughout. More so, Harry has a support system coming from his closest friends. Ron Weasley is Harry’s first friend. He is always a helpful sidekick who helped Harry in defeating the troll. His loyalty was shown when he sacrificed himself to make way for Harry to defeat the trials. Also Hermoine Granger is Harry friends. She is like an analyst who is always eager to face new challenges with her magic and logic. She is Harry’s most intelligent friend who is able to investigate situations rationally. Further, Harry would not be a wise kid without the help a mentor and that is Hagrid. He did all he can for the young Harry and was always there to support him. But of course, in every story there will always be a villain. Having a hero is nothing without a devil or someone to seize. Lord Voldemort is the main antagonist in the story. He is feared by many, so feared that people refer to him as “the one who will not be named”. He tried to steal the Sorcerer’s stone and he is the main reason why the hero is in an awful situation.
J.K. Rowling presented each character with their own story to tell. It was vital in establishing firmness in the story. Each of the character played an important role in making the concept work and appealing to its readers. Overall, this literary piece is a brilliant work of art that most people would really cling to.
